Message	adding fiberglass+bondo will not warp the hood, but welding a small aluminum patch will leave fine/mild yet very visible waves in the metal. even just a tack weld is likely to leave a visible warp/wave in the surface of the hood. like your bodyshop guy said, and like others have said: it is very very likely that it will warp. if your body guy doesn't feel very confident about it, then are you really sure that you want to press him into attempting it?
